Privacy policy

MorisBook, operated by SkyCloud Software, is a Mauritian marketplace for booking local services. This page explains, in plain language, what personal data we handle and why — as required by the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017.
Who is responsible for your data
- The data controller is SkyCloud Software [Ltd], trading as MorisBook, a company incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius [company/BRN number] with its registered office at [registered office address].

- SkyCloud Software is registered (or will register before launch) as a data controller with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius, as the Data Protection Act 2017 requires.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored encrypted, we never see it).
- Booking and quote details: the services you book, appointment times, job descriptions, photos you upload with quote requests, your phone number if you share it, and reviews you write.
- For business owners: your business name, address, district, phone number, service list, prices and gallery photos — this is your public listing.
- Device notification tokens, if you enable push notifications in the mobile app — used only to deliver booking and quote notifications to your device.
- Technical basics: cookies strictly needed to keep you logged in. We do not run advertising or tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
Why we collect it — and the lawful basis
- To run the marketplace (performance of a contract): connecting you with a business requires sharing your booking or quote request with that business.
- To send you transactional messages (performance of a contract): booking confirmations, quote replies, appointment reminders, password resets — by email and, if enabled, push notification. We do not send marketing without asking first (consent).
- To keep the platform safe (legitimate interest): we keep an audit log of administrative and account actions, and rate-limit abusive behaviour.
Who sees your data
- The business you book with or request a quote from sees your name, contact details and the details of that request — nothing else.
- Other customers see only the public content you post (reviews, with your first name).
- Our processors — database hosting and email delivery providers — process data on our behalf under contracts consistent with section 31 of the Data Protection Act 2017.
- Where our hosting is located outside Mauritius, transfers are made with appropriate safeguards as section 36 of the Act requires [hosting locations — to be confirmed at deployment].
- We never sell your data. We disclose it only if required by Mauritian law or a Mauritian court.
How long we keep it
- Your account data stays until you delete your account (available in the app and by email request).
- Completed booking and quote records are kept for accounting and dispute purposes, then deleted or anonymised.
- Photos attached to quote requests are stored privately and are only viewable by you, the business you sent them to, and platform administrators.
- Push notification tokens are deleted when you log out or when your device stops accepting notifications.
Your rights (Data Protection Act 2017)
- You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- You can ask us to correct or delete it — account deletion is built into the app (Profile → Delete my account).
- You can object to processing, withdraw consent at any time, and ask us to restrict processing while a complaint is resolved.
- To exercise any of these, email privacy@morisbook.mu — we respond within one month as the Act requires. You may also complain to the Data Protection Office of Mauritius (dataprotection.govmu.org).
Children
- MorisBook is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian, in line with the Data Protection Act 2017.
